Apptronik is an Austin-based human-centred robotics company developing AI-powered humanoids for manufacturing, logistics and other physically demanding work. Founded in 2016 from the University of Texas at Austin’s Human Centered Robotics Lab, it built numerous earlier systems before unveiling Apollo.
Company overview
Apptronik’s experience includes work on NASA’s Valkyrie programme and more than 15 previous robot systems. Its current development is closely linked with Google DeepMind, industrial customers and a growing network of Robot Park training and data-collection facilities.
Apollo development
- Apollo 2: the current bipedal and wheeled-base development platform used for real-world training and data collection.
- Apollo 3: Apptronik’s planned next commercial generation, informed by the Apollo 2 fleet and embodied-AI training programme.
UK and European relevance
Apptronik has major commercial and manufacturing relationships, but Robot Harbour has not verified a UK or European distributor, retail programme, rental network or authorised service centre. Apollo remains an enterprise deployment proposition rather than a product for ordinary UK purchase.
Last verified: 5 August 2026. Current Apollo development checked against Apptronik’s 30 June 2026 Robot Park announcement.
