NVIDIA Isaac GR00T is an open development platform and family of robot foundation models for humanoid reasoning, learning and action.

What it does

The GR00T family uses vision, language and action data to help humanoids interpret instructions and produce robot behaviours. The wider development platform links teleoperation data capture, synthetic data, simulation in Isaac Sim and Isaac Lab, evaluation, and deployment through Isaac ROS and Jetson hardware.

Current position

NVIDIA released GR00T N1.7 in March 2026, describing it as an open reasoning VLA model intended for real-world humanoid deployment. The company also previewed GR00T N2, based on a world-action-model architecture, with availability targeted for the end of 2026. N2 therefore remains announced rather than released.

In May 2026 NVIDIA introduced an Isaac GR00T reference humanoid built around Unitree H2 Plus, Sharpa hands and Jetson Thor. That hardware reference is expected from Unitree in late 2026 and is tracked separately from the availability of the open software and model weights.

Access and evidence

GR00T model releases and developer components are available through NVIDIA’s repositories and Hugging Face. Performance and commercial-viability claims in this profile are NVIDIA’s own; independent, deployment-scale comparisons remain limited.
