Agile Robots is a Munich-based automation company founded in 2018. It develops robotic hardware and AI software for industrial work. Its portfolio includes the Diana and Thor robotic arms, mobile systems and the Agile ONE humanoid programme.

Group structure and products

Franka Robotics has been part of Agile Robots since 2023. It remains a distinct product business focused on research and robot-learning platforms. Agile Robots’ 2 September 2026 announcement describes Diana 7 assembly demonstrations, Thor 12 welding and Franka’s bimanual training-data tools.

The same announcement reports more than 20,000 robotic solutions installed worldwide. This company figure spans its automation business; it is not a count of Agile ONE humanoids or proof of general-purpose autonomy.

Recent commercial development

On 29 September 2026, Agile Robots announced a partnership with Hitachi combining robot systems, Physical AI, edge semiconductors and manufacturing expertise. The companies plan to commercialise solutions through their own customer channels, including Hitachi’s HMAX Industry offering.

The agreement sets a development and market-access direction. It does not disclose a fleet quantity, installation timetable or independently measured productivity improvement attributable to the new partnership.

UK and European relevance

Agile Robots has an established European automation business. Availability should nevertheless be assessed by product and integrator: a Franka research platform, an industrial arm and Agile ONE have different readiness and support requirements. A confirmed British Agile ONE delivery programme or UK service-accreditation scheme has not been verified in the sources reviewed.
