Gilbert is the name Extend Robotics gives to a humanoid system used for apple quality control. It is documented as a deployed integration within the company’s service programme; the reviewed sources do not establish a separately orderable robot model with a standard specification.

What has been demonstrated

In its account of the September 2026 Google DeepMind Robotics Accelerator Demo Day, Extend says a live stream showed Gilbert working on an active apple production line. Its later funding announcement identifies the customer as UK grower Adrian Scripps.

Extend describes collecting operating data to improve classification and detection, with Google Cloud and Gemini supporting the deployment. These are the supplier’s reports. The material does not disclose the proportion of autonomous work, intervention frequency or independently measured production economics.

Access and technical limits

The wider Result-as-a-Service offer combines AI with remote human operators and charges for completed work. A named UK application supports a limited-deployment classification; it does not establish general Gilbert availability or European delivery.

Base-hardware manufacturer, payload, dimensions, runtime and a standalone price remain unverified. Enquiries should address the proposed task and service terms. Read Robot Harbour’s analysis of the commercial model.
