BRIDGE is a compact humanoid research platform developed through a collaboration involving Carnegie Mellon University, Huazhong University of Science and Technology, and JoyIn AI. Its research combines the robot’s physical design with controller development, aiming to transfer human movement to hardware more faithfully.
Hardware and demonstrations
The official project page describes an 88 cm robot weighing 12.5 kg, with 21 active degrees of freedom. It reports a platform cost of approximately US$1,500. This is a research cost figure, not a verified retail offer. The September 2026 paper also contains differing size and weight figures in its comparison table and image caption, so precise production specifications are not established.
The researchers show locomotion, balance and dynamic movement on physical hardware. These demonstrations establish a working research platform; they do not demonstrate general-purpose commercial work.
Access and availability
The project page links a CAD file. As checked on 8 October 2026, code and tutorials remain marked as forthcoming, with electrical specifications, the bill of materials, assembly instructions and further training resources promised after paper acceptance. No verified UK or European purchasing, shipping or support offer is established.
