NAO6 is a compact humanoid for education, research and social interaction. The platform originated with Aldebaran; Maxtronics Robotics now provides NAO development, sales and support.

Hardware and software

Maxtronics’ product information specifies a height of 58 cm and 25 degrees of freedom, with cameras, microphones, touch sensors, sonar and an inertial measurement unit. Software routes include Choregraphe and Python/C++ tools. The robot is a programmable interaction platform, rather than an industrial lifting system.

Cloud transition

The official support notice set 1 October 2026 as the closure date for Aldebaran cloud services. NAO6 owners need the migration update for the application store, software updates and remote speech recognition through Maxtronics.

The notice says local functions can continue without migration when they do not rely on those services. A manual update through Choregraphe and technical assistance remains available after the deadline. The update is free and concerns NAO6, not NAO5.

Availability

Maxtronics provides a quotation route and current support from France. A public price, confirmed UK delivery and a named UK service arrangement were not verified. Read our NAO6 owner checklist for migration context.
