Stretch is Boston Dynamics’ commercially available mobile warehouse robot for unloading trailers, moving cases and feeding downstream logistics operations.
Status and capability
Boston Dynamics introduced Stretch in March 2021 and opened commercial sales in 2022. The robot combines a mobile base, perception system and industrial arm, and can be deployed in an existing warehouse without fixed automation infrastructure. It handles cases weighing up to 23 kilograms, reaches up to 3.2 metres and can work for up to 16 hours with the high-capacity battery.
Commercial deployment
Stretch is used for trailer unloading and case picking. Boston Dynamics says the platform can begin productive work within days. Customers and partners include DHL, Gap, Otto Group and Arvato; in May 2025, DHL signed a memorandum of understanding covering more than 1,000 additional units globally.
UK and European availability
Commercial European deployments are confirmed through logistics customers, including Otto Group and Arvato in Germany. Boston Dynamics has not published a specific UK sales or delivery statement, so UK availability remains unverified. Pricing is not public and requires direct contact with the manufacturer.
